Abstract

Citizen Petition by the International Center for Technology Assessment, "Amend Regulations for Products Composed of Engineered Nanoparticles Generally and Sunscreen Drug Products Composed of Engineered Nanoparticles Specifically." The petition, submitted by the International Center for Technology Assessment, the Friends of the Earth, calls for the FDA to protect consumers from products containing nanoparticles. The petition calls for the FDA to develop nanomaterial-specific regulations, new paradigms of nano-specific technology testing, the classification of nanomaterials as new substances, mandatory labeling of nanoparticle containing consumer products, and compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act.
