Abstract

This article discusses some of the problems faced by toxicologist when attempting to discover if newly developed nanomaterials may have adverse effects on human health and the environment. Potentially thousands of these nanomaterials could be developed in the next few years, and scientists are looking for quicker tests to discover the toxicity of these new materials. The article reviews some of the efforts currently going on to develop these kinds of tests, and to identify which types of nanomaterials are most likely to cause problems in the future.
