Abstract

Newsletter briefly reports on the research done by the United States Environmental Protection Agency that reported that nanoparticles are showing up in the livers of animal research subjects. Because of this potential sign that living tissues can absorb some nanoparticles, and the many unknowns about the health risks potentially caused by nanoparticle accumulation in living tissue, the ETC Group calls for a moratorium on the commercial production of new nanomaterials, and the need to launch a global process to evaluating the social, economic, health and environmental implications of nanotechnology.
