Abstract

This article discusses a paper published by the Australian Government's Department of Health and Aging entitled "Proposal for Regulatory Reform of Industrial Nanomaterials" that proposes changes to the National Industrial Chemicals Notification and Assessment Scheme to provide further regulation of both new nanoscale chemical substances and existing chemical substances in nanoscale formulations. The authors discuss the benefits of this approach that gives the priority to protecting human health, but also considers the needs of businesses and manufacturers.
