Abstract

Health Canada, the department of the government of Canada responsible for national public health, has announced the adoption of a working definition for nanomaterials that allows Health Canada to have working means for identifying materials,a consistent set of approaches across the department and a trigger to request information, and as a way to establish international inventories regarding products, materials, ingredients, etc. that make use of nanomaterials, as well as to support the administration of the legislative and regulatory frameworks under the authority of Health Canada and to help further the development of policy, guidance and programs applicable to nanomaterials.
