Abstract

This report comes from a workshop held on March 19-20, 2007 in Frankfurt that brought together individuals with a background in society, ethics, religion or consulting. Experts in nanotechnology were invited to present and as partners for follow-up discussions. One aspect that came up at the beginning of the workshop was the need to involve food companies in subsequent dialogues. The discussion groups focused on the use of nanotechnology in the processing of foods, enhancing foods, ensuring food quality, the safety of nanofoods and current research, and how further public discussions about the use of nanotechnology in food should be conducted.
