This report, requested by the United Kingdom House of Lords Science and Technology Committee, looks at the possible benefits and safety issues raised by the use of nanotechnologies in the food sector to see if nanotechnologies may play a valuable rose, if effective systems are in place to ensure that consumers are aware of and protected against potential risks, and to understand and address some of the concerns that the public may have about the use of nanotechnology in the food sector.
