Nanomedicine : Industry-wise research

Commentary on the safety and development of nanomedicine. The author describes the approval process that all medical devices and drugs (including nanomedicine) must go through before they are approved for use. While the author is reasonably sure that the safety of these drugs will be established because of this stringent approval system, he raises the following points: a) how many of the nano-enabled drug delivery systems currently being developed will pass the current regulatory requirements, b) will the manufacture of these drugs be affordable for national health providers, c) how can scientists effectively improve their communication with other stakeholders about the benefits of nanomedicines.
