Abstract

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has released a new research strategy to better understand how manufactured nanomaterials may harm human health and the environment. The strategy outlines what research EPA will support over the next several years to generate information about the safe use of anotechnology and products that contain nano-scale materials. The research will focus on identifying sources, fate, transport and exposure to nanomaterials, understanding human health and ecological effects to inform risk assessments and test methods, developing risk assessment approaches, and researching methods for preventing and mitigating risks.
