Abstract

This publication is a model legislation that integrates the 2008 amendments to the Twenty-first Century Nanotechnology Rsearch and Development Act passed by the U.S. Congress in 2003 with changes proposed by the Joint NGO NanoAction Group. The model legislation includes comments about the amendments, as well as the changes proposed by the group. These changes seek to place societal and ethical considerations as a priority, to include a two-way public dialogue about the benefits and risks of nanotechnology, and increase funding for research on the potential environmental, and health risks of nanotechnology.
