| Abstract | This report seeks to identify gaps in legislation both in Germany and at a European level regarding nanotechnologies, points out some possible regulatory approaches and recommends areas for further regulatory action. It gives an overview of nanotechnology and its potential environmental and health risks, looks in detail at different areas of regulation such as water, waste disposal and the workplace safety, discusses the regulation of nanotechnology under REACH regulations, and details a framework that can be used to adapt current legislation to deal with the unknown risks associated with engineered nanomaterials. |
