Research Directions II : Long-Term Research and Development Opportunities in Nanotechnology

This report from a workshop held in 2004 by the National Nanotechnology Initiative asked participants to take a high-level view of nanotechnology and development and to try and identify the broad scientific and technical challenges that needed to be targeted by the NNI, and to serve as a guide for the implementation of the NNI strategic plan. Along with discussing nanotechnology applications in the fields of medicine, electronics, manufacturing, agriculture, etc., the report also briefly touches on social implications that should be addressed (p. 35).
