| Abstract | Because it is unlikely that standards to protect workers against harmful exposure to nanomaterials are going to be adopted anytime soon, these authors propose that a National Nanotechnology Partnership should be formed. This Partnership, headed by the U.S. National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, would include nanotech manufactures and downstream users, workers, academic researchers, and safety and heath practitioners and would help generate knowledge about the nature and extent of worker risk, and utilize that knowledge to develop risk control strategies to help protect workers and to provide an evidence base for NIOSH to make recommendation for workplace safety standards in the future. |
