Abstract

Report from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Workshop for the Safety of Manufactured Nanomaterials. Delegates from OECD member countries, non-member countries Argentina, China, and India, Environmental NGOs and other invited experts examined what efforts are already underway in researching the potential implications for manufactured nanomaterials, and what research and policy work needs to be done in the following areas: 1) definitions, nomenclature and characterization; 2) environmental effects; 3)human health effects; 4)regulatory frameworks. Includes an introduction, background and objectives of the workshop, a summary of presentations and discussions, a report of the breakout sessions, and general conclusions and recommendations of the workshop.
