Abstract

The author reviews different discourses within the emerging field of nanoethics, and discusses the limitations of these different approaches. He then examines more recent developments in the debate about nanoethics which call for the contextualisation of ethical discourse in its ontological, epistemic, and socio-economic and political reflections, and looks at how this approach offers genuinely new insights that allow us to focus on the present alongside the need to engage with the past, while avoiding speculation about the future.
