| Abstract | This resolution, adopted by the European Trade Union Confederation Executive Committee during their meeting in Brussels 24-25th June 2008, calls for the use of the precautionary principle when making decisions about nanotechnology research and development, and points out elements in European policy that they see as essential to ensuring the responsible development of nanotechnologies. Specifically, they point out the need for more funding for risk research, the need for a standardized terminology for materials to be developed, for all consumer products containing manufactured nanomaterials to be labeled, and the the the European Union's REACH regulations be amended to apply to all manufactured nanomaterials. |
