Position Statement : Ethics and nanotechnology : a basis for action

This position paper comes from a meeting of the Quebec Commission on the Ethics of Science and Technology and looks at the scientific, legal and ethical implications of nanotechnology. In its assessment, the Commission looks to uphold the protection of health and the environment, as well as respect for values such as dignity, liberty, privacy, and transparency. After taking a detailed look at these aspects of nanotechnology development and policy, the Commission discusses eight recommendations to political decision-makers to help ensure the responsible development of nanotechnology.
