EU nanotechnology R & D in the field of health and environmental impact of nanoparticles

This report summarizes the nanotechnology research funding currently being done in the European Union that addresses the possible health and environmental impact of nanoparticles. Following the EU's commitment of addressing the potential risks of nanotechnology before they arise, the European Commission has raised the level of financial support for research on the environmental and health effects of nanoparticles ever since the European Union's Research Framework Program 5 (FP5) which ran from 1998-2002. The report includes summaries of the funded research from 2002 to the present, as well as a summary of of the efforts of the European Union to ensure the responsible development of nanotechnology and the FP7 call for proposals.
