| Abstract | This article looks at the European Union's chemical regulation law, the Registration, Evaluation, and Authorization of Chemicals (REACH), and how it will affect nanoscale substances. The article provides a brief overview of REACH, and then evaluates the regulatory stance adopted by the E.U towards nanotechnology, including a shift in the burden of proof regarding to safety towards industry, and the express inclusion of the precautionary principle in Article 1. |
