| Abstract | Summary of a workshop exploring how businesses can respond to the technical (environmental health and safety), social (public perception),and commercial (oversight and economic risks of nanotech) uncertainties of nanotechnology. Participants in the workshop stressed the importance of learning for past experiences with emerging technologies and developing a new approach to responding to these uncertainties, the need for businesses to be more active in shaping the debates on regulatory systems, standards, and definitions, and the importance of effective and balanced conversation about nanotechnologies between businesses and other stakeholder groups. |
