Abstract

Report from a conference hosted by Nanoforum focusing on the potential use of nanotechnology for civil security. The conference was broken up into two sessions, one focusing on technology and the other on security issues. Speakers at the conference spoke about the use of nanotechnology for improving sensor technologies and the desire to have better networking and access to knowledge among EU organisations, They also highlighted the importance to involve social scientists in the design of new projects in order to ensure that potential ethical issues are taken into consideration from the onset. The main purpose of the workshop was to identify priorities for nanotechnology research in areas of security,
