The article explores these argument patterns and “tropes,” and asks if there are processes and argumentation patterns specific to nanotechnology. They find that the ambivalences (such as the gaps in knowledge about the health and environmental effects) of nanotechnologies bring out the unique ethical issues related to this technology. In the end, the authors suggest that a pragmatist ethics approach – one that emphasizes learning, self-reporting, and monitoring– as the most helpful way for addressing the ethical implications of nanotechnology. </style>
<issue><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">1</style></issue><section><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">2</style></section></record></records></xml>
