It concentrates on the industrial applications of nanotechnology in terms of the European economy, and focuses on identifying where support exists in an EU context, and where there are specific problems preventing the development or adoption of nanotechnology, such as lack of access to appropriate technology, lack of investment, etc. In the light of the above, the report identifies where nanotechnology can provide European industry with opportunities for creating high added value niche market products in the short, medium and longer term; and how the applications of nanotechnology can contribute to meeting the major goals of the Community, as expressed in the Fifth framework program (e.g. sustainability, improved quality of life, support for an ageing population, etc.)</style>
<work-type><style face="normal" font="default" size="100%">Paper from Working Group 6</style></work-type></record></records></xml>
